Typography and Week Four Summary, Mark-up, & Styling.

I thought I was over typography, we broke up years ago when I went chasing after a new love, as I call it, “The First One.” Never did font family inter-marriages, and bad kerning, or over-zealous drop caps, leave my inner aesthetic soul. It’s still inside, and I see cringe worthy examples, around, all the time.

Time is going by…

I can’t believe that we are already a few weeks in. I feel like time is going by really fast. We have already reviewed HTML mark up and now we’re onto CSS, typography, and FTP.

We made it to week 5!

Well these few weeks have definitely challenged me quite a bit. I am happy for the challenge however its been a bit stressful with balancing and managing my time. This class is definitely time consuming but I am also enjoying seeing the end result after all the hard work!

Week 4: HTML, CSS, FTP and Typography

For me there was a lot of cool new information these last couple of weeks. I’ve really enjoyed watching the last few projects come together, even though I feel like any one of them could have used as much time as I could spare.

Week 4: Typography, FTP, CSS and some sweet struggles

Here comes another week knee-deep in online study. This week is exciting because our work finally gets manifested online! I spent hours finessing over our portal page, it is our FIRST thing live online! Hopefully I can improve the technical aspects of this page as the semester continues.

Week 4 of our online experience

Its the fourth week of online classes here at sierra and so far its an improvement from the end of the last term but I don’t think it’s comparable to our traditional in-class learning.

During these two weeks I learned very interesting terms about CSS and Typography and I wish I have few more hours to put in reading and research.

I have learned a lot these last couple of weeks about CSS and Typography. I was able to get a refresher on CSS while also learning some things about CSS that I didn’t know.

CSS, FTP, FONTS

These couple of weeks we covered a bunch of themes. We discussed the major CSS principles, glanced over FTP clients and interactions with web servers, and, the fun part, discussed typography in general fonts in web design in particular.

Yet another week

This week we learned about big ideas in CSS and how to identify them.

Second Week of AAD

This week I realized I have a lot to catch up on. Reading up on HTML there are so many things to learn and experiment with.

And so we start another semester under such awkward circumstances…

My Learning goals

I really enjoy learning HTML and CSS and want to keep perfecting them until I can accurately reach my goal.

What I learned about HTML deep dive Lecture!

In basic class on HTML and CSS, you probably learned that HTML is a pretty simple language. It has tags and the tags sometimes have attributes. Some of the tags create new blocks on the browser window, like and <h1>, and some tags are inline elements, like . Some tags have closing tags like and some are self closing, like . That is about it to the language right?

Well, not exactly. Those are the basics and really all you need to know to get started with HTML, but there is a lot to the language that is interesting and that not everyone knows. This is a great opportunity to go deeper and know more about it.

Watch the videos below to get deeper into it, and take notes as you go along. You might want to refer to some of these resources again later. Also, the examples mentioned in the video are linked below the video, so you might want to get those and work with them, as you watch the videos.

Starting Another School Semester (Except They Are All Online)

Once again, I am back to school for the Fall semester of 2020, except all my classes are online! I have never thought of ever taking online classes in my life. The main reason is because I feel like I would struggle learning in a more online environment. However, Corona and the practice of social distancing changes all of that. As someone who wants to finish school, I took a step forward and decided to take the classes I planned to take this semester anyway, even if they were in an online format.

This week I have learned a great deal about HTML tags, also that I need to seriously find my old HTML books and reread them all.

Why did I start learning HTML/CSS?

I wanted to make this post as an introduction to where I started learning HTML and CSS properties. I know most of us had made given a brief background into their HTML and CSS history in their discussion posts, but I thought it would be great if everyone replied to this post with a more in-depth look into your stories and why you decided to continue to learn this subject.
