Sardinia

This island, located right off Italy's west coast, is home to some unique beaches and ancient ruins. Monoliths and pre-Roman rock tombs are not uncommon here.

Cagliari

Some of the Sardinian capital's attractions are the Cittadella dei Musei (Citadel of Museums) and numerous Roman and pre-Roman sites. The partially rock-carved Amphitheatre and Grotta della Vipera (Cave of the Viper) are places you can't miss.
