This week I feel like HTML started to make a little more sense to me. At first, I was mostly focused on remembering different tags and trying not to make mistakes in my code. But after working on my future resume and looking through other students’ code, I started paying more attention to how everything is organized. I learned more about <section> and <article>, and I actually went back and added <article> tags to my resume to organize each job and education entry better.
I also explored MDN this week and found the <details> element, which I thought was really cool. I had no idea you could make something open and close on a webpage with just HTML. I always assumed you would need JavaScript for something like that. It’s a small thing, but it made me realize there’s a lot more you can do with HTML than I originally thought.
I’m still getting used to choosing the right tags and understanding when to use them, but I definitely feel more comfortable reading HTML now than I did at the beginning of the class. I’m excited to see what we can do once we start combining everything with CSS and actually making our pages look the way we want.
