What I learned about HTML deep dive Lecture!

In basic class on HTML and CSS, you probably learned that HTML is a pretty simple language. It has tags and the tags sometimes have attributes. Some of the tags create new blocks on the browser window, like <p> and <h1>, and some tags are inline elements, like <strong>. Some tags have closing tags like <p></p> and some are self closing, like <br>. That is about it to the language right?

Well, not exactly. Those are the basics and really all you need to know to get started with HTML, but there is a lot to the language that is interesting and that not everyone knows. This is a great opportunity to go deeper and know more about it.

Watch the videos below to get deeper into it, and take notes as you go along. You might want to refer to some of these resources again later. Also, the examples mentioned in the video are linked below the video, so you might want to get those and work with them, as you watch the videos.

Starting Another School Semester (Except They Are All Online)

Once again, I am back to school for the Fall semester of 2020, except all my classes are online! I have never thought of ever taking online classes in my life. The main reason is because I feel like I would struggle learning in a more online environment. However, Corona and the practice of social distancing changes all of that. As someone who wants to finish school, I took a step forward and decided to take the classes I planned to take this semester anyway, even if they were in an online format.

Why did I start learning HTML/CSS?

I wanted to make this post as an introduction to where I started learning HTML and CSS properties. I know most of us had made given a brief background into their HTML and CSS history in their discussion posts, but I thought it would be great if everyone replied to this post with a more in-depth look into your stories and why you decided to continue to learn this subject.

First 2 weeks, Fall 2020

These last few weeks have been full of new information.  I have learned the basic layout for HTML and have gained a rudimentary understanding of how html and css interact.  I am surprised and pleased with the little bits I have learned so far because I was a little overwhelmed when I first started this class.

What I did over Summer to prepare for this AAD86 class

A curious email dropped into my inbox “How I learned to code in six months,” by Meaghan Jones. I read it and then joined a program called One Month. One Month HTML is a four-week course that intends to show how to build your first website, learning HTML, CSS, FTP, SEO, Responsive Web Design, Blogs and other things. This isn’t a pitch for them. They dropped me into a course on Ruby. Really?! I am a fledgling, but I thought, let’s try it.

Welcome to my first post of 2020!

Hello Class! I’m super excited to dive deeper into HTML and CSS with you all and I hope to get a better handle on web design. As much as it always intimidates me, I feel super rewarded when I get things rights and learn things that to me seem difficult to learn…
