Why is it Ugly?

The good news: I remember how to code!

The bad news: Everything looks ugly…

These past two weeks have been a great review as far as adding CSS to my HTML pages and uploading my files to the internet. Heck, I even have my own Portal Page now! The thing is, I’m struggling with getting my pages to look nice.

My Portal Page is still a work in progress at the moment, so I won’t discount that one yet, but I ended up spending a lot of time on my Camping in a Treenet: A Review page and I’m not loving how it looks so far. It’s not terrible, but I think I would like to change the color scheme at least and adjust the size of the main body text so that there aren’t long chunks of text on one line.

Outside of my struggles with designing a web page, our lessons on Typography really helped me this week. I always struggle to find good fonts that complement each other and I end up spending more time than I want to looking for something. Now, I have several sites/articles that I can look back to if I’m feeling stuck (which I can guarantee will be happening more often than not).

One of the articles called 30 Charming Google Font Pairings That Go Hand in Hand in 2024 has definitely been added to my go-to list of font references. Even if I don’t end up going with any of the pairings that they list in the article, I at least have something that I can start with and build off of if I needed to, just to get over the creative block.

All in all, I’m looking forward to continue learning how to code in this class. I’ve learned so much already and it’s only Week 4!
