This week we went over how to properly incorporate fonts in our web pages. There’s a lot to typography and there’s even more to know when it’s used on the web!
An important caveat to consider when using fonts on the web is how big the font is. When someone visits your website, how long will it take for the font you’ve chosen to download? Not to mention, everyone who might visit your website will have a different internet speed.
One thing you can do to test is by using DevTools inside your browser. You’re able to throttle your connection to emulate any kind of slower network speed inside the “Network Tab”. Font Awesome and Google Fonts are amazing resources to greatly improve how your website looks! But even though they are hosted externally, they will still slow down your website with extra things for someone to have to download.
