CSS Grid certainly streamlines web layout and offers an easier alternative to flex box.
I have been interested in understanding how to use Grid for layout and I was surprised to learn that it was not as complicated as I thought. There are, of course, more rules to learn regarding using a grid successfully. I think that is the overwhelming aspect of learning all these new tools such as responsive design, flex, etc.. Learning about the grid layout, however, actually simplified what we have been learning in that I recognized that it was an “option” – a tool that I could use, and so it is the same for the other new content. That new “view” has reduced the overwhelm to a more manageable concept for me. So, then it’s a matter of practicing the use of flex, responsive, and grid in order to become comfortable and familiar with their particular rules of use. I’m breathing a little more now I think. I’m a little happy to have made that small leap as I have been having one devil of a time this semester.
