These past few weeks we dove head on into more complicated concepts, which had me scratching my head more than a few times but as we power on ahead I continue to feel more confident as a web designer.
Relearning how to use the FTP server and how to upload things to be hosted was frustrating and also exciting. Theres just something about getting something online that you coded and then being on the internet that makes me happy to this day. Ive used flex for a couple of years now without even knowing what any of the CSS associated with it actually did but with trial and error have always been able to force a clients page to cooperate, so it is beyond exhilarating to know what the actual uses are in the CSS. I’m not so lost anymore! Grids I’ve only dealt with a few times, and the one time I did use it was super complicated and another web designer had to set it up for me. Instead of the ABCDE lettering system we used in the examples it was all structured through math and pixels which drove me insane because it had soooooo many moving parts and blocks and the client wanted their images to display a very specific way. Id say week 5 and 6 were definitely where the real challenge has begun in the class, and I’m both anxious and excited to see what comes next as I feel like beyond this point anything presented to us is going to be a new concept to me I haven’t worked on yet.
