My Goals and What I Learned This Week

This week I learned about something I’ve always wanted to learn how to do, and a few other things along the way.

This week (or the past two), I learned about sass; what I could describe as a much more difficult way of using CSS. It was very interesting to learn about as I have never heard of it, but it was definitely confusing. I appreciate the fact that we were introduced to it, as well as understand the significance of knowing what it is, but I do not feel as though it is something I’ll come back to.

My favorite thing I learned about this week was parallax and CSS animations. I always assumed animations would be very difficult to accomplish, but with the help of the directions I found they are pretty simple to achieve. I know that I’ll find myself coming back to the examples to include this in future websites I create. Parallax was something I’ve always wanted to learn how to do. Although referred to as “parallax” because it might not technically be an example of parallax, I learned how to achieve a scroll effect in which the image that works as the header is covered as you scroll farther into a website’s contents. This is a feature I’ve always been drawn to in websites, so I’m so happy to have learned how to do it. I also enjoyed the parallax challenge and the quick website I got to create.

As for my goals, they tend to stay the same. I am always working on ensuring that I ask for help when I need it, but I am proud to say that I did not have any issues this week. I am happy that I notice when my skills get stronger, and how it takes less time to complete HTML or CSS for assignments.

I look forward to what I may learn while creating my final website designs!
