My Goals and What I Learned This Week

This week, I had the opportunity to learn about responsive web design and continue to better my midterm design.

Something new I learned about this week was responsive web design; building sites that will respond to the size and adaptations of a user’s device. This is completely new to me, although the concept is familiar. I learned about media queries and how to use them in order to allow our websites to format correctly on different sized browsers. I enjoyed the practice assignment that let us work with the media queries, and was glad to see that they’re quite easy to use.

Something I simply enjoyed was being able to continue to work on my midterm design. I added a lot of content and feel really proud of what I created. I was happy to receive positive feedback and feedback that would allow me to better the final design. One of my continuous goals is to positively receive criticism; as I know it will help me in the end. Something that I might have looked over will be more obvious to a first time viewer.

A second goal I have is to continue to welcome new information. I can be skeptical of new techniques in web design because I tend to immediately assume that they’re hard, but what we’re required to do with responsive web design ended up being much easier than I thought. I am happy to learn anything that will help with the ease of designing websites, as well as anything that allows them to look better on all sorts of browsers.

Overall, this was a really great week! I love being able to be creative and design things in this way. I am also grateful to learn something new that will ultimately come in handy and be something I implement into all of my future websites.
