Weeks 5-6

The past few weeks, we’ve been working with layouts. Specifically touching on Flexbox, Gridding, and other techniques/tools. Here’s how that’s been going.

We first started off with some overviews of the techniques. I think that, in general, it is difficult to truly understand the nature of these tools without much practice. The highlight of my two weeks was definitely the flexbox challenges we did.

Flexbox, or any of the layout tools really, have never come to me with ease. The most difficult, without a doubt, has to do with responsive design, as these require additional layers of CSS that must be present for things to work.

Luckily, some of the flexbox challenges helped with understanding how the tool works in regular situations, even outside of responsive design. With some hints in the CSS and HTML files, it was easier for me to pick up on gaps in my knowledge and fill them in with deeper understanding.

I’m glad to also have brushed up on some typography. Learning of new conversion methods, font sites, and even icons has been incredibly helpful.
