Similarly to past weeks, Weeks 11 and 12 were fun but challenging in their own ways! Week 11 was our introduction to Sass alongside getting the solutions to the Sacramento Writer’s and Zen Music Festival pages. Week 12 was simple and straightforward, and focused on our introduction to Parallax and the beginnings of our final project.
Week 11 was interesting, since we got both solutions to two past projects, and an introduction to Sass. The solutions were interesting (and always are interesting to me) because I think it really solidifies how each person can create the same website with varying approaches. I do wish I can get to a point where I can have supre nice and streamlined code, but I definitely need more practice.
Sass was interesting because I can see why some people may enjoy it, especially if they have more of a background in computer science, but it wasn’t for me. It just seemed very convoluted, and it made everything so much more complicated. I had to keep scrolling up and down to remember when variables I created and the nesting, while nice in theory, got a bit confusing too. I think I will just stick to regular CSS.
As for week 12, as I said above, it was pretty straight forward. I loved learning about parallax, and I definitely want to try and implement it into my own website design.
And, wow, planning for the final project already!! It makes sense, since it’s Week 13 now, but it doesn’t feel real. Only three more weeks left after this one? It’s so weird to think about, but I am excited for the project. As much as I have loved this class, it will definitely be nice to get a break after 16 weeks of constant schoolwork.
As of right now, I think I’m going to go for Option 1 and do the two microsites, since this will work the best with my schedule. I do, eventually, want to build my own fully fleshed out website, but I’ll have to do that on my own time outside of class. Overall, I’m really looking forward to the final project!
