Developing the Final Project

As we round the far turn into the home stretch our final project is foremost on our minds, the finish line, and all the preparations and learning we have put into this second course in web development.

These past couple weeks we have been practicing writing, choosing, researching and learning the building blocks of page development, the css code and the many tools acquired for building our content vision, its delivery, and presentation. We have looked at a number of methods like absolute and relative positioning, floating, flex box and grid. With flex box in particular we have explored its many parameters and terms in the spacial realization of our creations.

Parallax scroll effects were an interesting way to present content, in shape, layout, sizing and movement. Bootstrap was presented as a generic template for prefab responsive and graphic presentation, and we studied more in-depth flex box techniques and solutions. We considered mobile first development, its advantages and drawbacks, the use of media queries, wrapping techniques, and flex-basis when arranging for device delivery. We also considered CSS writing tools such as SASS, watching demos and attempting to implement development using this approach.

Lately, seems like building pages, solving spacial and positioning problems in CSS and HTML and learning animated graphic techniques have been more fun than watching movies, TV news and sports. I’m still preoccupied with the health of my senior canine companion, Chee Kough, the subject of one of my final projects, but he is doing remarkably well with his convalescence from surgery and the effects of anesthesia on advanced age and mobility problems. I’m still actively involved in maintaining his optimum health and prognosis for the future and our further adventures but he appears to be rising to the occasion of our mutual endeavor. Life is good ;~}
