Let’s talk about Flex!
Oh boy. We finally made it to flexbox. For some reason, I never cared for the flexbox layout during AAD85. I thought, “Heck, I can do this whole HTML and CSS thing without it”. I don’t know why I hated flexbox so much. Though, it is most likely because learning flexbox involves change, and change is scary.
However, this time around, flexbox is somewhat of a blessing. I suppose it just makes sense now. It makes your life so much easier. I now catch myself thinking in terms of the flexbox layout. I see things on websites and say, “I see what you did there”. It’s kind of refreshing. Now I just have to come to terms with this grid thing. I’m sure the grid layout and I will become friends before I know it.
Aside from old (and new) tricks, I also reunited with my enemy: Adobe XD. There is only one thing on my mind when I design with Adobe XD. Why haven’t they added scrubby zoom yet? I refuse to believe that professionals are using this software happily without scrubby zoom. I mean, sure, there are the zoom shortcuts, but I want—no I need—my scrubby zoom.
Beyond the petty grievances, I am happy with the design I created for my midterm project. It definitely ended up being a goofy subject, but I am proud of what I did. So far, I am open to creating my design in DW for the final project. But, I’m sure the tides will change once I have another wild idea I feel like I need to solidify in code.
