My HTML has cobwebs

I took AAD 85 in the Spring of 2023. I also was working at a company where I had to use HTML/CSS on the daily. After the Spring, and after getting laid off, I haven’t looked at a line of code since. And it shows.

Sitting down to write out my Future Resume was like getting on a bicycle that you haven’t ridden in years. You push off and place your feet on the peddles. The handlebars are a little wobbly at first as the sensation of gliding over the pavement starts to feel familiar. You peddle more, picking up speed. Ah, yes. This feels familiar again.

Jumping back into HTML has reminded me how fun it is. Figuring out the right configuration and which tags to place where. And then hitting refresh on your browser to see your creation come to life. Sure it’s just simple text right now, but the potential for more is what’s exciting.

Remembering things like indenting your code correctly so that it is easier to read when other people see it. Using <em> and <i> to give certain words more emphasis. Making the reader’s life easier by giving your email an <a> tag so they don’t have to copy and paste it. All these tips and tricks come floating back with each line of code I type.

As the semester goes on, I’m sure all the cobwebs on my HTML/CSS knowledge will be thoroughly brushed off. I’m excited to see what other tricks we learn and refinement we can add to our code skills.
