What I learned in Week 3

Ok, I am writing about week 3 in the beginning of week 4, which I realize now is a mistake because last week was a loooong time ago — and I can barely remember what I did then.

One thing I remember for sure is that we started to build a new site! Yey! Haha William actually provided us with all the content, which definitely makes everything much easier. It is refreshing to be able to build a site without having to be concerned about content and be able to completely focus on design. But well, I know that’s not the reality out there if I’ll want to keep on building sites for small businesses…

On Tuesday we also spent the whole class learning how to move our flowers website to a new WordPress/Site. It seemed challenging because we were exposed to it for the first time. But it’s actually simple when you know what to do and remember that there are four main steps:

  1. WP Content Folder from FTP Client (I am using Fetch, but Cyberduck was also ok)
  2. SQL Database we get from phpMyAdmin in the backend of Site Ground
  3. URL for Old Site and URL for New Site and Table prefix
  4. SQL Code for Moving WordPress if the URL changed at all
