These last few weeks, post-spring break, have been crazy… fun! It worries me a little because I’m wondering, “What the hell have I been doing the first half of the semester?”
I don’t know about the rest of you but I have been almost blown away by these features we have been looking at recently. In the last couple weeks alone we have done Git and GitHub, SASS (or SCSS), Hamburger Menus, and Parallax. This is the gold of my world.
Personally, I’ve been grinding resume and cover letters out for Summer Internships and potential jobs, going through requirements and skills that they want, and me judging myself on how well I could perform in that position. I’ve particularly keep seeing Git and GitHub, and for mobile, all I see are hamburger menus. Not too long before we checked it out during class, I saw SCSS and thought, “I have never before heard that in my life. Ever.”
Parallax is just… awesome. I’m awed. These past couple weeks my mind has blown. A lot of these elements I’ve been wondering how to do it, and my fingers have been tingling to put them in practice. All of them are incredibly significant in the outside world in Web Design jobs. Not that all the other things we’ve learned aren’t valuable, but in my experience, stuff like Git is key knowledge to some employers.
Its been a fantastic couple weeks. Great, exciting things to learn. It makes me excitedly giddy about coming to class, as friends and family worry slightly for my mental health.
