A Quick Tour of Week 2

Week 2 of my AAD0086 class has been a nice warm-up of what’s to come. I appreciate the reintroduction to HTML through our future resume project, which was harder than I thought it would be given I’d just finished 0085 last semester. My first post is a reflection of what I’ve learned so far and what I’m looking forward to in this class.

My first stab at my resume was very simple and straightforward. Just <section>, <article>, and a few <h2> and <p> tossed in there. After our peer reviews, I started remembering more clearly how to use complex elements and attributes. Seeing other student’s resumes also gave me some new ideas and ways I could format my resume to make it more semantic.

My second stab had more id’s and classes. If this resume had CSS rules added to it, it would be easier to style with id’s and classes added to it, considering I had a lot of h2’s inside sections and articles. I added an <address> element that I’d never used before, instead of just using <p>, suggested by Prof. Mead. I learned that the <address> element contains important information about the author of the document, like a contact page. Never knew that, and now I know!

It all started to come back to me and I felt pretty confident writing the html for my future resume. I’m looking forward to more of these mini-projects that challenge us bit by bit.

Also, here’s an image of me at a Halloween party that I put in my future resume. My future resume was made-up and I included jobs about being a flying witch instructor, mind-reader, and realm creator. This pic was appropriate because I thought it made me look like an alien. It wouldn’t load in our resumes probably because we aren’t connected to a server yet (my guess).
