Ten weeks down, six more to go…
The last two weeks of web design have gone by smoothly. I’m enjoying the design challenges, even though they sometimes leave me with a headache. It’s fun to try and figure out how to do the CSS coding correctly. I feel more confident with my coding abilities than I did at the beginning of the semester even though I feel like I don’t know how to do much. Each step is another hurdle I am slowly tripping upon. However, I am happy with how I am progressing through the class.
I think the biggest assignment I’ve completed in the last few weeks was redoing my portal page. I know I’ve learned something in the past few weeks because I was able to apply what I’ve learned in my redesign. I was interested in the flipping cards from the AudioSpace assignment, and I decided to add a similar concept to my portal page redesign. Instead of using square albums, I decided to modify the code to work with circular icons I already had edited. I noticed some resizing bugs when changing the dimensions of my portal page, but the site looks alright in the desktop preview, as well as the preview for smaller-dimension devices. I will try to squash some of these visual bugs in the future.
As for Grid and Flexbox, I am at peace with both of them. At least, until things get too complicated for me to understand. Their overall purpose and design techniques make a lot of sense, and I hope I can be more familiar with them in the future.
