AAD86 – Weeks 5 & 6

Now these past two weeks have definitely been interesting! There was a lot of content I didn’t know previously so it definitely felt like a curveball was thrown in my direction, just not necessarily in a bad way if that makes sense.

Flexbox was nothing new to me since we used it a bit in AAD85, but I definitely learned quite a lot more about it. I was also newly introduced to grids and positioning. I also revisited Floats as well.

Using the float property was interesting, because I don’t think I ever officially learned anything about it in AAD85, so almost everything we went over was completely new. I didn’t struggle through the float practice assignments as much as I thought I would despite this. They were actually pretty easy, but I’m an overthinker so I definitely had to step away for a few minutes after reading through the assignment in order to regroup and not overthink the issue. On the funnier side, I accidentally made everything float right instead of left, because my brain switched the two. At least I was able to have a good laugh over it.

I also struggled quite a lot with the positioning assignments as well, but I still tried my best and submitted what I did. I think as long as I practice it a bit more, I could use it effectively.

Grids were a lot easier to learn for me. Maybe it just seems a lot more straightforward to me than the other subjects, but there was something about it that just clicked. I really liked it, and I think it’s a cool tool to use.

Overall, this has been a fun and interesting past few weeks. I learned a lot of new things, went over old things, and experimented a lot. I’m excited to see what we do moving forward.
