Staffords & Bull Terriers

Rescue

Fostering can be a great experience but you really need to take care and don’t let your heart take you down the wrong paths. The mark of a good foster is someone who knows when it is not a good idea to bring this dog home. If you are interested in fostering for the SBTCA or BTRI please each out to me and also check out this like blog post on Fostering Safely This is everything you need to know to get started safely and be successful is there.

bull Terrier Pup with mange

Duncan, 2017

Stray deaf pup found with a littermate. Both puppies covered in mange. I loved him. He got a GREAT home in Colorado. They share pics with me to this day.

Rehoming your dog can be heartbreaking and often times you are vilified for even considering it. I know that sometimes you have no choice and often times it is in the dog’s best interest to be placed in a better situation.

The first thing you need to do is contact the breeder of your dog. You may not realize that the contract you signed requires you to return the dog to the breeder if you are unable to keep it for any reason. Not all breeders are in a position to take a dog back immediately but most will help find a new home.

Stafford and Bull Terriers have a strong support system for their rescues. If your dog has some training, is tolerant of other dogs and can live with cats and children you will have no trouble and we can help. If you have or know of a Stafford or Bull Terrier that needs a home please reach out and I can send you in the right direction to help. It isn’t always easy and fast but there is help

New Pups

Monday afternoon Susi Ming of BTRI call me and asked if I could take on these two babies. Someone on a bicycle dropped them off on the porch at the Stockton Shelter. The shelter was in the middle of a parvo clean up and really did not want to bring them in to the kennel area.

I said yes and the pups were brought to me the next day. They are about 7-8 weeks old. They are skinny and emotionally behind for their age. I named them Paris and Nicky after the Hilton sisters. They are very small and really sweet.

Paris has a large umbilical hernia and is scheduled for surgery Friday May 13. Update: Surgery went well and Paris is recovering nicely!

They should both finds homes fairly quickly because PUPPIES!!

6 Pups

Taking on puppies in winter is challenging. These pups were about 10 weeks old when I got them. Past the time that they should be in their new homes. Their original foster home had them since they were tiny.

Their mother was a bad mom and had savaged them. One was missing an eye, another had eye damage, and most of them had general bite marks that had healed.

They only stayed with me a short time and I believe now that 4 have homes and two with the eye issues are still waiting. May 6, 2022, I have been thinking about taking those two back here because they were transferred to a kennel. I feel that puppies need to be in a home environment.
