Breeding Plans

Thank you for your interest in a Ciera Stafford. I do not have anything available at this time May, 2022. I do have plans for 2-3 litters in the next 2 years. I will be traveling to England and Ireland to look at dogs and hopefully choose some nice dogs to use for breeding. I am planning to breed Scarlet, Ruby and Devi. Please come back often to learn more about puppy opportunities as they unfold.

Helpful Information

Puppy Culture Logo

All Ciera litters follow puppy culture protocols. Ciera puppies always amaze their new owners at how easy they are to integrate into their home routine. They are smart, emotionally stable, potty trained, they are already offering appropriate interaction behaviors at 10 weeks.

What is Puppy Culture? Puppy Culture is a road map of protocols to implement based on age of puppy and imprint periods. These are science based protocols and best practices that will help the breeders and rescuers caring for litters from birth until they go to their homes.

From early neurological stimulation to the startle recovery period, to the communication trinity and the puppy party and everything else in between puppies are carefully watched and monitored to ensure they have the best start to become balanced canine citizens. The benefits to the new home include but not limited to: a good start on house training, calm quiet puppies in crates and ex-pens, they already understand the concept of reward based training, they have appropriate human interaction skills. One of the most important benefits is that a breeder is able to really learn who these puppies are early so that placement in their new homes is fool proof.

To my cherished charges.

I hope I choose well for you.
I hope you have happy, safe, trusting lives.
I hope you are treated with compassion and kindness.

Puppy Application

As you can imagine by now I take puppy placement very seriously. I do not breed often and I put a lot into each puppy to ensure they are the best they can be. I also take great care to listen to each person’s desires and concerns so that the match is good. I tell all my fellow breeders “there is only one time to advocate for your puppy, and that is before it drives down the driveway” so choose well. It is a lot to work out over a few phone calls and emails. I do my best.

I have the Dinner and a Beer Rule. Could I go out to dinner and have a beer with you? Are we like minded? Do you know everything already or are you willing listen even if you feel you know everything? Are you going to take the puppy and run or will stay in contact and share trials and tribulations and pictures! Do I feel confident you will reach out to me whne there are health issues and things to discuss with your vet. But, most importantly will you be kind to this puppy?

If you have got this far into my site you may be ready to complete and submit my questionnaire for a pup. Upon receipt I will get back to you so we can start the process.

How to Find a Reputable Breeder

Quality and reputable breeders do not sell puppies with 3 clicks and a PayPal button. Nor is that the way you want to buy a puppy.

Chances are if you are here you are looking for a dog that is healthy, has the proper temperament for their breed and looks like their breed. The very best way to locate a breeder is to go to the events where the breeders go. All National breed club websites will have an event calendar. These same websites will usually have a breeder directory. There will usually also be a Code of Ethics somewhere in the club documents. The code of ethics is a document to read thru to get an idea of what the club expects out of its members. This does not mean that every breeder adheres to the Code but it will give you a lot of discussion points.

Both the The Staffordshire Bull Terrier Club of America and The Bull Terrier Club of America are your best start points for research on health, temperaments, and where to find a breeder. akc.org and gooddog.com have resources for locating a reputable breeder but there is no guarantee. It is up to you to do your research and proper due diligence.

A dog will live for a long time you need to put in some effort in the beginning to have a great experience. Most importantly when you reach out to a breeder remove your puppy goggles so you can think clearly. Puppies are expensive and can come with complicated contracts don’t let the excitement of getting a puppy sidetrack you from checking the fine print and asking the tough questions.
