Trekking Tahoe

A visual journey of outdoor activities you can enjoy when visiting Lake Tahoe

Boating

People have been boating on the lake since the mid-1840s, and it is one of my favorite ways to enjoy the lake. Renting a boat is easy to do, and most boat rental places will teach you how to drive it, allowing you to explore the lake on your own.

Places to go

My recommendation for viewing Lake Tahoe from the deck of a boat is to head to the West side of the lake. Not only will you enjoy fantastic mountain views, you'll be able to enjoy going into the famous Emerald Bay to get a close up view of Fannette Island Tea House, built in 1929.

North of Emerald Bay is Rubicon Bay. This is a great place to take a break from boating and enjoy a snack. The water is crystal clear, allowing you to see the emerald water of Lake Tahoe, and the million dollar mansions that dot the shore are interesting to see up close.
