The Basic Notes In Music

Whole note, it has 4 beats and looks like a circle filled with black color in the middle, also sometimes has a white oval within. Half note has 2 a beats and it looks like a circle but is clear in the middle, also has a line going straight up form the circle. The Quarter note has 1 beat and is a circle filled with black color in the middle, it also has a line going up from the circle. Both the quarter note and the half note sometimes have the line form the circle going down if higher on the scale, which is the top of the scale.

Strings On A Guitar

The thickest string is the top string the name of the string is the E string which is also the lowest note on the scale. The next one down is the A sting. Going one down is the D string. Going down again is the G string. Then going down again is the B string. Lastly, going down we have the the E string which is the thinnist string but is the highest note on the scale. Further more, when pressing certain strings on differnt parts of the fret board, together they make up a chord.

Music Sheet

Music sheet is notes and sometimes chords put together. How do you read it, starts with a measure that is made up of notes that coresponds with the time signature and meausres can keep going with different or the same notes. The time signature consist of 2 numbers that tells the person that is playing what beat the note are. For example, if the time signature is 4/4 wich is common, then in the meausre, he whole note gets 4 beats, half note gets 2 beats and the quarter note gets 1 beat. All you have to do is count 1, 2 , 3, 4 over and over plucking the particular note on it's proper beat.
