Hi, my name is Catelyn Bu, and I'm a passionate artist!
Art and design has always been something I've done as a hobby growing up, but currently I am pursuing it as a career. Right now I am a student at Sierra College, but in the Fall of 2023 I plan to transfer to UC Davis. At UC Davis I plan to complete a bachelor's degree in Design.
I'm also a published artist! Two of my pieces, "Power Up" and "Orchid" were published in the Sierra Journal, a student-run journal at Sierra College.
Skills and Experience
Traditional Media
I have a long and extensive history of working with traditional art media including graphite, charcoal, ink, acrylic, and watercolor. Although I have been drawing with traditional media for my entire life, most of my significant development has been within the last five years. During those years I've taken multiple traditional drawing classes where I practiced art and design principles.
Digital Media
Currently I am working towards improving my digital art and design skills. I have about two years of experience working with Adobe Photoshop. And in Photoshop I've learned how to create digital paintings, do photo editing/photo corrections, and graphic design. I've also worked with Adobe Illustrator, Adobe InDesign, Krita, and IbisPaint.
Web Development
In my final semester at Sierra College I started learning front-end web development for the first time using Adobe Dreamweaver. During that semester I worked with HTML and CSS. I plan on continuing to improve these skills and I'm excited to learn more.
