My story...

My first art class was in kindergarden. It was a self taught class which consisted of having a huge white piece of paper with plastic cups of paint. I would dip my whole hand in a cup of paint to put on this giant piece of paper. Little did I know that art would become a part of my life.

Later in life I decided I would let the art I was making tell a story. I would take my time creating different pieces and experimenting with materials I had never used before. My art teachers urged me on and gave me advice on the pieces I would make. That's when I knew I wanted to pursue art.

Some things I do to help my creative process is yoga, meditation, and go out in nature. One of my biggest challenges in art is finding my focus and just taking time to work. I make art for selfish reasons. One of those reasons is the feeling I get when I start drawing. Drawing takes me out of my body and I only focus on that one thought or idea.

When I start my creative process I listen to music. Turning music up so loud you hear the beat is one of my favorite things to do. This helps me get out of my head and start working on a new piece. Art has taught me so much about myself!
