Pen Tool
The pen tool is one of the most complex tools but it can also be very helpful for tracing lines.
Shape Tool
The shape tool helps to save time by making different shapes that are closed objects. This allows you to easy fill the shape with the color picker or swatches tool.
Color Tool
The color tool allows you to have a very large and detailed variety of colors to pick from to fill your objects. It can be very difficult to get a specific color like green, blue, or red. The reason for this is because there are so many different hues of those colors so you may not easily get what you want.
Swatches Tool
The swatches tool is very easy to use and is helpful if you just want to pick a specific color quickly. It prevents you from trying to move the mouse over a very specific point to get the color you want, as is the case with the color tool.
An Example of What You Can Do With Them:
Draw
Draw your pictures by hand on regular paper. Afterwards, scan it or take a photo of it with a good quality camera.
Digitize
Import your picture. Set it as a template and lock the layer. Use the pen tool and any other tool to trace your artwork.
Finalize
Add color to your artwork using the fill function. Colors available for fill can be found in the colors or the swatches panels.
