North Grove Trail

Shot of stairway to a huge stump and pathway to the right

This is the preferred trail to hike if you are bringing a family and would like to learn about the parks animals, trees and their history. This trail is a well-marked loop, about 1.5 miles long with no real big inclination. Takes about 2 hours to enjoy and get through the trail.

Grove Overlook Trail

Pathway with tree fallen over the pathway. Tree is cut into a section for path

This is a little more challenging trail to hike for more experienced hikers. This trail climbs part of the way up the ridge to provide views of the upper levels of trees. Although there are no interpretive markers, slightly longer than North grove trail, about 2.5 miles.

South Grove Trail

Inside a hallowed tree that is a pathway itself

This is also a looped trail for the experienced hikers, a bit longer of 4.9-mile hike, but still gentle with inclinations. This trail shows the Calaveras trees in a more natural setting without all the markers and wooden hand ramps along the trails. Takes about 3 hours for this trail.
