Creating Custom Decals that Reflect You and the Things You Care About

Applying Decals

  • Each decal will arrive sandwiched in three layers of material. The top layer is transfer tape (which is used to apply the decal). The second layer is the actual vinyl decal, and the bottom layer is the backing.

1.) First, make sure that the surface is clean. The vinyl will not stick well to any dirty, oily or waxy surface. Use a little rubbing alcohol to clean the area where the decal will be applied.  *If you're applying the decal to glass, DO NOT use Windex or other ammonia-based cleaners; the ammonia interferes with the adhesive.

2.) Lay your decal flat (face up), then take a credit card and rub the edge of the card over the surface of the decal to make sure it is firmly sticking to the transfer tape.

3.) Turn decal over and slowly pull the backing paper off at a sharp angle. If any part of the decal is not sticking to the transfer tape, return the backing and rub it more with the credit card in that area.

4.) Once the decal is on the transfer paper, hover it over desired position and then slowly adhere the decal to the surface in sort of a rolling motion (starting in the center). Then rub with the credit card to fully adhere to the surface.

5.) The last step is to slowly remove the transfer paper, pulling it away at a sharp angle. Sometimes the decal will want to stick to the transfer paper (good cleaning with alcohol prior to installation will reduce the chances of this). If this happens, use the credit card to rub the decal in place against the car, then continue to slowly remove the transfer paper.

6.) Take a step back and admire your YOUnique decal. Enjoy!
