Fourth of July Trip

This trip was such a fun time. We are in a Jeep Club and have found our second family with them. One of our fellow members invited us to go on their annual 4th of July trip and of course we said yes. Well actually, I said yes. The husband had to work. So my crazy brain thought it would be alright and dare I say, relaxing, for me to take BOTH kids BY MYSELF camping. Alone. I knew I would have help once I got there and we would have a great time too. So I jumped ship, and I'm so glad I did.

What I brought:

Here's a picture of our tent we use: a 6 person tent

It's easy to set up and tear down, fit us all and has a divider for when the kids get older and we don't want to look at their sweet, obnoxious faces anymore. When we camp, I like to bring either a "cot" or "crib" whichever you want to call it for either kid. This trip I had both kids so, I brought a cot and a crib. We use portable ones like this : a portable cot and this : a portable baby crib They are the most useful and great for travelling in general, not just camping. I brought sleeping bags for everyone but for the baby, (she was only 3 months at the time) we just swaddled her. Clothes are an obvious pack but I made sure to pack warmer and cooler clothes since I didn't know how things would change and I've forgotten things in the past by being unprepared. And of course I brought food. Lots of food. My son was a little over 2 at the time and just ravenous. Also didn't want to come and steal everyone else's food even though that's exactly what happened. Everyone else cooked for us. They probably felt sorry for me since I was the crazy lady taking her 3 month old camping. Or my darling 2 year old bothered them for snacks.

What I could have brought (but forgot):

One thing I didn't think about bringing was (whoops) MY WALLET. Yup. I forgot that. Luckily the husband came out for one night and brought it then for me and we never left the campsite once we got there. Definitely should have made a list of the common essentials. Also, I should have brought things for my 2 year old to play with besides the few toys I let him bring. Mainly, night time items. Luckily this is where "Grandma Donna" (as my son called her after this trip) came in. She always brings light up trinkets for all the kids to have. Not only so we can find them, but so they can annoy us for eternity with their flashy rings. That's what grandmas do right?
