Ichiban is a unique restaurant in Midtown that cultivates casual intimate dining experiences by providing small plates meant to share amongst a group of friends and family. We are influenced by the food of the Kansai region and inspired by a range of global flavors that form a more modern approach to Japanese cooking.

What does Ichiban mean?
It means "number one" when you compare three or more things. You express that something is the best by saying it is "Ichiban."

Do you accept reservations?
Yes, we do. We take bookings available on a first-come, first-serve basis for larger parties. Please inquire about availability by calling during regular business hours.

Is there a place for us to wait for a table?
We ask our guests to wait outside for their table or suggest going somewhere nearby for a drink while waiting, and we will text when your table is ready.

Are you peanut allergy friendly?
If your allergy is severe, we cannot guarantee that the food does not contain traces of peanuts.

Are you vegetarian/vegan friendly?
Yes, our diners can easily adjust their orders to be meat-free, and there is minimal dairy or eggs on the menu.

Are you gluten-free friendly?
Since one of our main ingredients, soy sauce, is usually made with wheat, this can be tricky. However, some soy sauces are gluten-free, making these varieties an option even if you're on a gluten-free diet, and there are some delicious items you can enjoy without wheat.

Can I have a good conscience eating your food?
Our seafood is sustainable, all the meat is hormone-free and organic, and eggs are free-range.

Is there parking?
Parking is abundant, with two parking lots on the block and plenty of street parking.
