How to get a job in film productions

By: Nathan Drake

Applying for jobs is hard enough, but trying to get a job in film production is a different level of difficulty. Luckily for you, I'm here to help give you tips on how to get your foot into the door of film productions. Keep in mind that there is no easy way to get into the industry since it is a very competitive space to stand out amongst the rest but you can find tricks on how to stand out.

    1. Share your work with a massive audiences. You would be surprised that once you start posting your work to popular sites like Youtube or TikTok, it can reach large a number of people. Word of advice is to keep an eye on current trends on the internet, especially if your work is centered around that theme.
    2. Work in a group, it creates connections. Whether it is a group of people you know or from a classroom, meeting new people can help create new connections.
    3. Have multiple skills besides directing. While being a director is a good thing, having other skillsets can make you an even better director. Consider taking an acting class, learning about theater and stage setup, or even how to create posters and advertisements for your film.
    4. Work on other films. Making your film is a step in the right direction, but working on someone else's film project can help you learn more and make more connections.
    5. Screen your film. Whether it is a good or bad film, seeing other filmmaker's projects and watching audience reactions to your film can help you grow as a director and see where you can improve on in the future.

Adobe Photoshop, is it dying?

By: Sarah Kerrigan

Lately in the interwebs, there have been a few other articles written about photoshop dying. Of course, as curious as the rest of other designs and photographers are, I took a look at these articles to see what is going on and the current trends. As figured, with the advancement of technology and computer AI, we have reached to the point where instead of the photographer or graphic designer editing their images, a computer is cutting out objects perfectly, auto-filtering images, and fine-tuning images that normally take days to do with a click of a button. While many are turning to AI programs to quickly digitize their images, one main common issue with those programs is that the AI can pick up on so much information which leads to images and content looking very repetitive to each other. Another issue with some of these programs is vulnerable security that can lead to the device or camera being hackable or prone to malware, like FaceApp with their vulnerabilities a couple of years ago. While not all programs have security issues, some do and that could lead the consumer vulnerable to attacks. Aside from security flaws, it leads to the big question: are artists using photoshop going to lose their jobs to AI programs? It is hard to tell but current trends are leading towards that possibility, but not any time soon. While AI can mimic a style, it will take a longer time for them to create a custom style and creativity that's unique to them that isn't repetitive. So for now, photoshop is still alive and kicking, but it'll need to adjust to the new current trends in the future to hold interest with professionals who could cut time in half with an AI program instead.
