Intro to Web Design: Project Directory
The following projects have been created as a way to explore front-end Web Design and Development.
For my first project of the semester I created a document called My First Page. This document was created for the purpose of learning the basic foundations of HTML and CSS coding.
The main objective for this project was to learn the difference between block elements, and inline elements. Aside from this, I also had the chance to familiarize myself with various HTML tags and practice implementing basic CSS rules.
The Squint Studio Build-Along is my most recent project. Throughout the design process I began to use even more complex coding techniques. I learned many new skills such as how to group elements, how to implement links, how to link an external CSS file to an HTML file, and the importance of accessibility in web design.
My favorite part of this project was learning how to style the HTML files. Seeing my website go from simple and boring to having that WOW factor using Dreamweaver' external styling sheets was definitely the highlight for me!
My Final Site is a five-page portfolio for my photography and short-film work, built from scratch over the second half of the semester. It brings together every skill from the course into one cohesive project: HTML5 semantic structure, an external CSS stylesheet, custom Google Fonts, Flexbox layouts, optimized image and video assets, multi-page navigation, and an embedded short narrative film.
The site uses a soft pastel color system that I built with CSS custom properties, where each section gently shifts to a different palette as the viewer scrolls. It also includes a custom favicon, a background image treatment, a responsive layout, and unique metadata on every page to support SEO and accessibility. This was the most rewarding project of the semester and the truest reflection of how much I have learned in AAD85.
