Welcome to my Introduction to Web Design, Course Project Portal Page - Enjoy Your Short (or Lengthy) Visit!
The following projects hosted here have been created as a means of exploring front-end Web design and development.
Main Course Projects
-
My First Page
This assignment was the very first time I created an actual Web page using HTML, which was gradually introduced to the class through the course of two weeks (or two lectures). The "My First Page" tutorial here personally taught me about how to, first-off, create and maintain a meaningful file management system (in relation to a project) that utilizes proper file-naming protocols and methods of organization, and secondly, it taught me about the basics of operating the coding software Adobe Dreamweaver - what does what, how to create a site location, practicing good coding habits through formatting and indenting code, and so on.
Additionally, the second lecture (which would complete the process/tutorial) touched briefly on CSS through the adding of an internal stylesheet - background color, font-size, and similar properties and values. The page would then be uploaded to a server using the FTP client FileZilla.

Squint Studio Build-Along
The "Squint Studio Build-Along" project is a step-up from the previous "My First Page" assignment. Here, the class was tasked with the weekly process of routinely documenting, adding, and uploading their own version of the practice site "Squint Studio" to the class server, where it could then be viewed live on the Web. Each week, we would be introduced to new concepts through both video and slide lectures (about either CSS or HTML, sometimes both), which would then in turn be used to add further detail to the site.
Some of the most important, if not vital, lessons I learned throughout the duration of this project include: file and site management (folder structure, code organization, creating a local site location, managing.html documents/site files), creating multiple pages with their own set of rules and selectors through an external CSS stylesheet "style.css", as well as generally learning about the different elements at our disposal (tags, attributes, properties, and what not).

Final Site Build
The "Final Site Build" project, which, given the name and nature of 'final', has acted as a test of knowledge when it comes to everything us students have learned over the course of this Fall 2023, AAD-85 Intro to Web Design class—to build our very own site with a purpose. There was no handholding this time around; everything was to be made from scratch or gathered from copyright-free resources that would need to be well and clearly documented (urls, a summary, and so on). SEO, accessibility features, alt text—all of it—all of what we have learned was to be addressed during this project.
For my site in particular, I had decided on creating a mini-portfolio that would function as its own online space where I could share my artwork and professional documents, in relation to a portfolio development class I took during the same semester (2023). Needless to say, the finals in each respective class were pretty integral to each other.
