Del Norte Coast State Park
Del Norte is located along the Northern California Coast. It was founded in 1927 and has about 50% old growth coast redwoods and eight miles of wild coastline. This park is bicycle and hiker friendly and is a must-see with it's view of the coast mixed with the giant sequioas.
Jedediah Smith State Park
Jedediah Smith is also along California's Northern Coastline. This park is a few miles inland from the shore and is named after Jedediah Smith, the first white man to explore the interior of northern California. Here you can fish, snorkel, or kayak in the Smith River. Camping and hiking are also available. The whole park stretches more than 10,000 acres with over 20 miles of hiking.
Prairie Creek State Park
Prairie Creek exibits both beaches and meadows, seagulls and elk. This park has over 75 hiking miles and a 19 mile bike loop. This park is beautiful and offers both tent and cabin camping. The combination of redwoods and ferns will blow you away.
Big Basin Redwoods State Park
Located in the Santa Cruz Mountains, Big Basin is a hidden gem. It was the first California State Park, founded in 1907. Here you will find hiking trails, camping sites, and picnic areas. Some of the native wildlife include banana slugs and raccoons.
Muir Woods National Monument
Muir Woods is a National Monument and part of the Golden Gate National Recreation Area. This park offers visiters many organized activities. There are guided nature walks, a Junior Ranger program, and a recreate the Golden Gate activity. Reservations are required before visiting, so be sure to plan ahead with this beautiful park.
