Well…only a few tears.<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n
These past few weeks of layout challenges in both Flexbox and Grid have certainly tested my coding skills. While I thought I was pretty proficient in Flexbox after learning about it in a previous class, I was sorely mistaken after going through last week’s challenges.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The first two were really simple and very reminiscent of the lessons I learned before about flexbox (plus they had very clear instructions, making them a whole lot easier to navigate). When I got to the final challenge however, there were no instructions. I thought, “Easy peasy! The first two were so simple how hard can this one be?”<\/p>\n\n\n\n
I quickly realized that this challenge was a little more difficult than the other two. First off, all of the elements on the page were so spread out that it was nearly impossible to understand where everything was supposed to go. I was able to get a good idea after looking at the final outcome image, but it still took me a long time to orient myself.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
After about an hour of fussing, I finally got the page to look more like its final product except for the navigation bar. For the life of me, I could not get the blue button to work with me! After another 30 minutes of shifting things around to no avail (and shedding a tear or two in the process), I decided to admit defeat. Try as I might, I could not figure out where I was going wrong and rather than spend an unknown amount of time growing frustrated, I figured what I had was good enough and I submitted the assignment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
As frustrated as I was that I wasn’t able to solve the challenge completely, I was still proud of myself for being able to get the majority of the assignment correctly aligned. I’m still a beginner after all, and I should feel proud of myself for all of the challenges I’ve overcome so far.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
