In my opinion, type is very important! Different fonts can totally change the feel and vibe of your website drastically. I played around with many different fonts this week and that really solidified how important type can be. Do you want a minimalist feel? sophisticated? calm? silly? It was interesting to see how different fonts can express different traits or emotions.

I also read a lot about choosing the typeface that works best, and how many might be too many. From my perspective, having more than two different fonts on one webpage can be overwhelming or chaotic to the viewer. Even if its only slightly different, the viewer will have a hard time recognizing the hierarchy, and knowing where to look. I like to use different weights of one font family to achieve hierarchy, such as bold and regular of the same font.

I loved the different videos and articles we read about this week but type was my favorite subject that we covered overall. I liked learning about the different possibilities you can achieve with a typeface and how much it can add or take away from a webpage.

I loved learning more about type this week, however it had me asking a lot of questions.
