Okay, okay, I confess. I don\u2019t have strong feelings for or against any typefaces. Over a decade ago, when a classmate asked our professor to be excused from using Helvetica because she hated it, I felt puzzled. \u201cHow do you grow to hate a font? What did the font do to you?\u201d I wondered.<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n
I\u2019m still wondering. Even Comic Sans and Papyrus seem to have a place and use to me. In fact, here\u2019s an article by A.A. Newton in Lifehacker that claims Comic Sans helps writers overcome writer\u2019s block, Get Over Yourself and Start Writing in Comic Sans<\/a>, and another in The Cut called, What\u2019s Wrong With Comic Sans?<\/a>, about how some people with dyslexia find Comic Sans easier read thanks to the irregular shape of its letters.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Still, if Oliver Reichenstein\u2019s article, Web Design is 95% Typography<\/a>, is right, then I\u2019m going to need to learn this typography stuff. In fact, I say, “Bring it on!”<\/p>\n\n\n\n Reading The Equilateral Triangle of a Perfect Paragraph<\/a> by Matej Latin and playing the Triangle<\/a> game was very helpful. I\u2019ve found some books on typography at my local library that I look forward to reading. I’m also excited to experiment with combining typefaces in my assignments. However, I plan to keep an open mind towards typefaces as I learn about them.
