As a designer, I really like to think outside the box and do stuff that no one else is willing to try, or just haven’t yet. Usually, its just me being over zealous. Nevertheless, when it comes to using block elements and making a page that’s pretty and organized, utilizing floats and flexbox creates a panic-less me.<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n
One of the first websites we were allowed to do on our own with Natalie, I had this design where there would be nine boxes – half photographs, and the others for text. It was not a fun ride at all.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Then, as life would have it, Natalie showed us flexbox for our last website and it was exactly like learning Jquery after typing a load of Javascript! It completely opened my eyes to how I could probably do so many different types of designs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
As we saw this week with the Coffee Shop site, sure you could use floating… but why!? Flexbox took two seconds, leaving a lot more time to be working on other stuff (if this were a job). Seeing each technique compared and contrasted really helps understand that there are many paths to take you where you ultimately want to go, but getting to that place, doesn’t have to be an elongated maze.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
