There were fancy hover interactions, background boxes of fun colors, and formatted text. It was fun. I remember, however, being freaked out about how much it had changed when I changed the size of my browser, unknowingly aware of the concept of responsive design. Of course, knowledge of responsive design wasn’t necessary for the beginner class–but, the look of it always irked me.

For that reason, I was glad to know that we would be covering responsive design in this course. Now that we are all in the learning process, I am really keen to the idea of designing for mobile first. It makes a lot of sense in my head to work that way instead of creating the desktop version and working backwards to style the mobile layouts. I find that creating the mobile layout first is often a bit simpler in terms of design to kick off the layout for the site.

At this point, I am understanding the concept of different layouts and why they are important. I know that in many cases, flexbox and/or grid will be used when creating the desktop design, sometimes with both of them being utilized for the layout. With that being said, I am still sometimes struggling with the circumstances where it is necessary to use both. I hope that going forward, I will be much better at understanding when one may be necessary over the other, or when a combination of both will be best for a desktop layout.

We are already so far into the semester, at a little more than halfway done! I am excited to keep challenging myself to continue learning.

[178

post-1330","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","hentry","category-aad-086-sp22
["GET
