Wilderness in the West

Welcome to my webpage!

A soft sunset coming through trees.

Welcome to my website! This website was designed to bring pleasure to those of you who, like me, share a love of nature. I have attached some interesting facts about each of the pictures I have posted. I hope you find the information intriguing enough to want to learn more. These pictures were taken out in the wild during one of my many trips out in nature. I am quite passionate when it comes to photography and it has become my number one practice when the feelings of stress try to overwhelm me. There is always something new to learn and appreciate when we are out in nature. Even when I visit repeatedly the same park or site, I always come out with new pictures and even a new experience.

Birds

Cranes walking on a newly planted field.

Fun facts about cranes: the smallest species of crane is the Demoiselle Crane which measures 35 in., where the tallest is the Sarus Crane, which measures about double at 70 in. There are 15 species of cranes and they live 20 to 50 years in the wild.

Wildflowers

Wild daffodils. White on the outside and bright-yellow on the inner rim.

Fun facts about daffodils: there are 25,000 named varieties and their scientific name is Narcissus. Daffodils got their name from a Greek myth about a handsome man with the same name, Narcissus. Daffodils can  grown in the wild, and it is thought to bring happiness.

Landscapes

A Great Blue Heron is standing on a wetland.

Fun facts about natural landscapes: the variety of plants and trees in landscapes improve the air quality. Not only are they beautiful to see and experience, but they also bring health benefits like such as the reduction of stress.
