My name is Kyle Date. I don't expect you to believe what I am about to write. But, at least hear me out.
How It Began
Two months ago, I received a letter and a package from Japan. It was from my friend, Shinji Tachiwara. In his letter, he wrote about a trip he took with some friends up to Mt. Tomuraushi on the island of HokkaidÅ. They went hiking up a small trail at the base of the mountain. They had stopped at a small clearing to take a break when Shinji found something. Hidden in between some rocks was a very worn journal, which was the package he sent.
When the group returned to their inn, Shinji read the journal out loud to his friends at dinner. They laughed at what was written, calling it a "bad horror story". An old lady who was eating nearby overheard them. She reprimended them, saying they shouldn't invade someone else privacy. They ignored her and went on reading. Their trip ended without further incident and they returned to their homes in Kyoto.
That's when they started seeing him.
Shinji told me about how he and his friends have all encountered a horrifying spirit when walking in the rain. The spirit was distorted, but they could see it was a man. His face was covered by shadows. His clothing was torn to shreds in multiple places, revealing grey colored flesh. He would cry and ramble out jibberish about someone being 'beautiful'. The spirit would then let out a blood chilling wail before disappearing into the rain.
Unable to explain what was going on, Shinji decided he would go find the place the journal talked about and see if it really existed. None of his friends want to go with, so he asked me to come along. After reading the journal, my inner detective won and I agreed. I fly out next month.
Before I head over there, I am going to catalog the journal's contents on this site for others to see. Maybe someone out there has information and is willing to share with us. Please and thank you.
