Jackson Avery is a Chihuahua-Terrier mix, and eight years young. Jackson Avery is a rescue, and his story begins on a sad note, but ends with a happily ever after.

On a busy road in Citrus Heights, California, in 2010, a small 10-month-old puppy, jumped out the back of a big truck. The driver looked back and figured the one of the many vehicles would most likely be the end of the pup’s life and did not go back to save him.

Not too far away, a family witnessed the incident, alarmed by the toe curing sounds of the scared and possibly injured puppy. Thankfully, the vehicle behind the truck, swerved to cut off both lanes of traffic, and saved the ailing puppy from the dangerous road before pulling into the nearby residential street. The grandfather of the spectating family ran over to the man who had saved the puppy and together, they brought the puppy to a local veterinarian to assess any injuries. The puppy had suffered a cut lip and emotional trauma.

A week went by without anyone claiming the puppy, much to the family and puppy’s benefit. The puppy had quickly bonded with the family and considered their home as his. The puppy was later named Jackson Avery and forever remains the apple of his momager’s eye.
