Mapping

Project Overview

The problem that Everywhere You Go will address is combining apps like Upside, CityMapper, GasBuddy, and Gas Guru together to create a better experience for the users. It will address the problem of the accuracy of time for public transportation, the safety of the location of the stops, the ability to map multiple destinations into one, and the app being able to generate the best route, for the best gas savings for the user. Not only will the app save gas for users it will also provide accurate prices on the gas station nearby, but it will also calculate the best cashback from nearby gas stations. Everywhere You Go will also be available in every city, find routes between the cities, and have access to most or all of the taxi and car ordering services available nearby as well as showing the cheapest rates, which services are closer and available. Another problem Everywhere You go will solve is no need to download multiple apps to have everything you need; one app will provide all the information needed for the users. Everywhere You Go will also be multi-language and will give the option to choose the preferred language.

The audience that will be attracted by Everywhere You Go and using it will be people that use public transportation daily, people that are new to the city and need help with directions, college students, low-income families, and middle-class families. People that want to gas up for the best price available, people who want to feel safe when they travel around the city. The age audience for this app will be from 14 to elderly people.

Everywhere You Go will fill the need of many Americans and tourist groups, it will provide safety, accuracy, and money savings for many people. This app will change the way people live, and how they travel, and give them the ability to live their life free of worries. Knowing that no matter what there is a way to get to their destination or destinations fast and money valuable. Everywhere You Go will help solve equity issues in the economy and financial section of many people, by providing a platform free of judgment, society status, and discrimination.

Project Research

Overview

After I completed the UX Research for Everywhere You Go, I understood that all of the available apps are focussing only on one problem. That I can run into some issues while presenting the app, to the community for example some people wouldn't trust the app and will have doughts about the credibility of the information. Since everyone is used to using an app for every single problem. The research gave me multiple conclusions, one that I was following for this design is I need to create something that can help everyone and solve more than one problem. I know that even though it will take time, people will use the app and it could become the number one.

Strengths

Providing accuarate information and data from other people. A combination of mulltiple apps in one. Extra settings that will combine trips together or will let you know the best routes for the whole week. A live chat were people can talk about locations and where it's safe and wger to be careful.

Weaknesses

Everywhere You Go will be new and will need to start aquring it's posittion. Users might worry about accuracyof information, legitimacy of the app. As well as it will be some time before we have enough understand of what the users will want and need from our app.

Opportunities

Everywhere You Go can take advantage of people wanting to save money and help the environment, which will lead to Everywhere You Go becoming known. Having multiple apps combined in one app is an opportunity for better usage and more users that will want to keep everything in one app.

Threats

Some of the threats for Everywhwere You Go are possible issues with open chat, not providing what users want/need and loosing popularity. Other companies are focusing on one aspect of the problem, while Everywhere You Go focusses on all of them and could potentionally not have enought data.

App Design

The first two images show version one of the front page, I first designed it with a more blue color oriented, and less informational. Afterward, for the second version, I decided to change the color scheme that feels satisfying instead of cold blues. I also changed the layout and added more information on the app and what it does. The decisions were made in the thoughts of users and what would be more pleasing and needed for them.

The last two images are the home page of the app, thinking about the users and their experiences I made multiple changes. I added a search bar, to create easier access to directions, changing the wording to provide more understanding of what each function does. I also added an extra menu for information that would be important for the users and needs to be more easily accessible.

Tasks For Users

Everywhere You Go has multiple working pages and steps available to take. The working pages are Front Page, Home Page, Create Account, Sign In, Forgot Password, Contact Us, Account, Delete Account, Gas, Making the Map Bigger, claiming an Offer, Choosing the Gas, and Adding a Card. All of the links for working pages are working, and you can always exit from them, no matter where you are. Contact Us page is different for signed-in users and users that are not logged in, by the header looks, and where you will be going back to, all the steps are the same. On the homepage, you can go to your account and gas offers. I also made the Create Account, Log In, Forgot Password, Forgot Username, and Request a Call back to have options if you don't want to go true the process of seeing all of the errors, you can press the first half of the button, the second half of the button will guide you through all of the errors that can happen. You can also change the stars on the gas choice, even if one is selected.

Usability Testing & Further Development

Nataliya Tsytovych conducted an in-person usability test on May 2 of 2023. The purpose of the test was to understand if the design was great for usability, if users would have trouble creating an account or logging in. As well as if the design explains what the app is about. The test was processed with 4 participants, duration of which was in total of 15 minutes. Most of the participants thought that it was easy to use and had no trouble.

  1. The test identified some issues:
    • Lack of explaining what the app is and does.
    • Not enough categories to start with
    • Not enough slides to fully understand the app.

Having a choice in re-starting/continuing Everywhere You Go I would design more complex and involving design. I would add careful error messages, such as when someone tries to submit without finishing the process. Having a more functional menu, proving more offers, and the ability to choose from more offers. Embedded a working map, and functions that users can add their preferred gas station. As well as added more features and gifs to create an interesting design.

Summary

Working on this project thought me how to be patient and think about every detail. What can go wrong, what the user might do at each task. Focussing on the main task and then working my way to the inside task. Being able to understand how users think, where would be the correct placement of functions and how it would all work together.

I am most proud of creating multiple steps and being able to combine all of the pages with the possibility of leaving them. Of creating error messages that will be useful for designers, and potential customers. As well as creating the offer page, and detailing it to the best of my knowledge of prototyping.

The most challenging part of this assignment was being able to think true every detail and connecting all the pages together in the plan before creating them. The most rewarding part of this project was seeing the end result and how it all came together.
