FitUS.io was meant to allow users to easily track their fitness on their phones. It is created for both fitness lovers and those people who would wish to stay fit and healthy, as well as allowing ease of tracking exercises, setting your goals, and observing the performance.

The idea of the app was born from a personal need for a simple and easy to use workout tracking application, emphasizing accessibility and ease of use. That is what this design has focused on, taking into consideration users of all levels of fitness.

UX Research

Competitive analysis revealed that many fitness apps were either overly complicated or lacked essential features. This research highlighted the importance of simplicity and clear navigation in app design.

Feedback from potential users indicated the need for quick task completion, minimal distractions, and intuitive layouts. These insights guided the development of the app’s user interface and core functionalities.

App Design

App Design

The visual design focuses on clarity and usability. Early iterations featured lighter color schemes, but user feedback steered the design towards a darker theme to reduce eye strain and create a sleek, modern appearance.

Typography choices, such as bold headings and readable text fields, ensure accessibility. Iterative testing helped refine button placements and form designs for better user interaction.

Tasks For Users

  • Log in securely using a username and password.
  • Register a new account by entering personal details.
  • Track workouts by adding specific exercises and setting goals.

Usability Testing & Further Development

In the initial usability tests, there were points that needed more work, such as more informative error messages when registering and a more intuitive placement of the position for the "Add Workout" button. Later updates smoothed out these details, and the user experience became much more polished.

Future plans include integrating social features, allowing users to share progress and motivate each other.

Summary

This project highlighted the importance of user centered design and iterative feedback. The most rewarding aspect was seeing the app evolve based on real user needs and feedback.

The biggest challenge was balancing functionality with simplicity. The experience reinforced the value of thoughtful design decisions in creating an effective and engaging product.
