Pets was one of my first ideas to do for an app. Even though it was an ideas, I still wasn't sure what to do. Both ideas are on the mindmap that I did. I actually went with another thought which was a deals app. After doing reashearch that idea didn't work out.
I felt more comfortable with doing a pets app. I also had a connetion with the idea beacuse I have pets of my own. I hope this app would help pet parenets keep track of their pets throughout the day.
One of my original ideas was a deals/discount app. I was thinking that it would be nice to have an app that helps people who want to save money in this time when everything is expensive. There are other apps similar but not much. Then my other idea was a pet app that users input what a pet did during the day.
I felt more comfortable doing the pet app. I also did some research on this as will but not as in depth as the other idea. My app would alos include a community section that consist of articles, guides and discussions. There are not many apps that do both log information and have a community section.
My initial design had a lighter color which I liked but I couldn'nt find the right shade. When working with other colors, nothing really blended together so I decided to go with a darker color with a couple of lighter accents. I pretty much kept the layout the same with a few adjustments. I had my mind set on the layout.
The shade I started out with was a purple color which I did like it just didn't blend well with other colors. What I ended up with was a darker blue, light blue, cream and a soft yellow. I think it blended pretty well.
There are so many things to do with this app with oprotunities for more features in the future. As a pet owner myslef, sometimes it's nice to keep track of how your pet is doing and to have an idea of what they did during the day.
The first task that a user can do is logging an activity. When in the tab a person picks which pet if they have more than two. If they don't then the screen just takes to the next page. From there they user can fill out what they want as long as they fill out catagory and date. Notes, Name, time and location are optional.
The second task is searching something. The search consist of services and places. A user can search different things and the results will pop up the user can press on what they are looking for, in this cas a business. The business information comes up.
Other tasks
The test went well. The user just went through the app I pointed a few things out. What I learned is that actions really need to be straightfoward otherwise it takes more time to think about what to do which most people wouldn't take the time to do.
What I would do differently is make it a little bit more clear to go through which is how it should be when designing something for users. I would develope this further because it seems interesting and I would like to build the skill.
