Project Overview

The project is about an enrolement education app. The apps purpose is to help people get education and colaborate with people who had education to help those who are illiterate to have an education. The taget audiance is to those who are educated that graduated college who are commited to help others. We are trying to alliviate and bring down the percentage of people who are illiterate and so they can't get advantage of there illiterate nature so they can survive a hard life in society.

Project Research

These sites is what inspired my design based on the typography that I am looking. Wattpad - is a story reading app that lets you read stories in novel format with chapter lists and you can comment on them like an annotation. The app has every feature but when I read the novel online I can't seem to highlight the words that I wanted to highlight because the quote of the novel is very memorable. I can't save the words or paragraphs highlighted in my account when I go back and read. This feature is definitely missing another. The good thing about this app is that it has a bookmark that lets you bookmark chapters. FanFiction.Net - is a story app that fictionalized and uncanonalized stories from other novels by creating stories that are unrelated to the true plot of some popular novel series. They either paired the characters that have no relation to the canon relations. Fans of these popular novels create a fictional stories that are unrelated to the original plot and that you can read them. The problem is the same as the problem of Wattpad is the annotation highlighting paragraphs. This has a bookmark feature as well. Fictions & Comics- is a novel app that let you read many novels online people have created you can read many chapters because they are updated regularly when the author publishes a chapter. This app has a bookmark chapter but the highlighting works this is missing when you wanted to highlight a phrase or a paragraph. Even thought they don't have similar features that I am planing. I think this apps are good in their own way they both have good typography and the formatting of the words. This got my insparation to choose good typography and fonts for my app These type of Typography is what inspired me to think about how the words are formated when designing an app. So they are easy to read for everybody.

For My Research on The overall concept of the app shows the things that I need to combat while design the app 1. The problem of the application is that this lacks more intel about what places that has a school that is for either the adults or the children as there are schools. This is a big issue because some areas lacks adult schools. The problem of the design is where can I put the map feature on the design should I put it in the navigation section. 2. The target audiences are those who are educated and are interested in helping those who are uneducated and help them out to read and write. Those who are in the education field that are interested in helping poor communities get education. 3. What I did to research the app I really think of the problems that can get in the way of accomplishing an Equity project successfully created. I think of the ups and downs of the design app that can help those who are illiterate. I really thought about the weaknesses of the site of how can it be vulnerable to fraudulent information about the free schooling situation. The other thing is that the Illiterate can’t even register with an educated person to get to a school they can’t fill out their name properly in the app. 4. This app will help address equity solutions towards education equity that can help alleviate illiteracy rate and give them opportunities of giving them a job they can work on that requires those who knows how to read and write. This can have a lot of impact to those whose lives are changed because they are more educated and can’t take and advantage on anyone or anything fraudulent. This type of research that I did was very imformative of what can I do to hepl imporve the app and tacke design challenges.

App Design

The Apps design is that of conceptualization that I have imagined in my mind and think of what the welcome page is going to look like I imagined a quick introduction of the app and the map layout of the app and the conversation section of what the discussion format is going to look like. I have made alot of revisions in this app that I even included features that are important the app it self for example in the log in section there is a reason that I made that design feature is to prevent fraudulence that are not there to help out so they can have no interest towards the app it self. This is how I keept improving timeline that Advice that I followed:

Opinions of others that viewed my own design Prototype V1 (Peer Reviewed) Hannah Perron: Great start on your app. When I first open it, I feel a little lost. The image at the top of the screen catches my attention first, but it doesn’t really tell me much about the app. Then I’m drawn to the text on the screen, but it is quite a lot right at the beginning. Working on hierarchy and/or maybe using collapsible fields would help to reduce the cognitive load. The buttons at the bottom of the screen are also a little small for a mobile phone. Making them bigger would make them more noticeable and touch-friendly. The next few screens make sense and follow a logical flow. My main suggestions for them would be to make sure that your text is large enough to be easily read on a phone and to have an option to go to the school’s official site (because that’s where they’d need to sign up). Can’t wait to see your next version! Rachel Gutierrez: This is an interesting and neat concept to have for your app. The visual hierarchy is a bit lost though since the sizing of the type appears to be all the same size. Adding some bold lettering or even a larger size font would remedy that easily though. The map on the second page is great and makes it feel more authentic. I was a little confused about the “free” or “not free” labeling. Is this related to how much the school costs? I do like the fact that you can complete an application right within the app, it’s definitely a nice feature. Good job!

Prototype V2 (Peer Reviewed) Hannah Perron:I like how you have where you can live message people who have left comments on the discussion board. Each task that you have seems good, but I think they could use some more steps/options. I know that it's just the prototyping phase, but it's a little bit hard to know what takes you where and where you are within the app. Having page indicators for the bottom navigation might help with this, as well as having the interactable elements (such as buttons) stand out more. It also looks like you have click triggers that take up the entire page on some pages. This makes it confusing because I don't know where I'm being taken. Adding a button that can be clicked to take me somewhere might make it less confusion. Francesca Tambini: Your prototype is very effective at showing the different interactions your app has to offer. The interactions are very clear for the most part, though there were a few pages where I wasn’t sure what to click on, such as the Discussion Topics page. Design-wise, I feel that your app could benefit from a little more color, to make the CTA buttons more clear, and to help different elements pop out more. I followed so of the advice of the people who looked at my prototype and made some chages of the app that is necessary to do to help guid me of the things that neeeds to be chaged. I take these feed back so seriously that I made changes based on the advice of these people righ here.

Tasks For Users

The users in this app can use the map to search for schools that are for kids and adults if they are free or not free. They can also log in to the chat section to chat for everyone and plus they can have an option of how can they chat with different people.

These are the tasks that people can do to navigate this app very successfully

  1. Home: This is the introduction of the app that explains the goals of the app it self.
  2. Map:Searches schools and checks if the school is free or not free.
  3. Chat: Log in, chat options. They can either do live video call or go to the discussion page.

Usability Testing & Further Development

The purpose of my report is to test the usability of the Application Equity: Education. My objectives is that the app is very user friendly? The app can function well in the prototype section. The feed back I have from my partner was the app is very easy to use and has a lot of interactivity on the pages in the app. She notice that the when sho goes to the chat screen the page goes black and when clicking on the text. On the discussion page the she said this is well done but that topic could only be selected once time in the discussions page. The thing she notices is that the home and chat navigations only take you to the map. I did this prototype and this needs some pages to look better and linked them in their respective place correctly. I did this prototype and only shown one page because this is what the Apps are going to look like when used in the real world. I would have to work on the free or not free section of the app to see if they are free or not in the map section. My parnter Michaela Wagner said this while testing the app.

Summary

The thing that I have learned doing this app is the design journey is fun and interactinve at the same time because you can generate Ideas The App is about Enrolling students to various schools by using the map to find schools. We use the chat to get involved with different issues and topics to discuss. I like designing this app it is very easy to pinpoint which tasks that needs to be added and the design of mine is very easy to add some colors and features are good and fluid to see and the features are very easy to use. This app does what I wanted it to do because I linked them very easily by testing them and adding more feature to suit the app itself. I honestly don't have a hard time designing this app at all. However, there are things that I have a hard time designing is the map I originally wanted to have the school marked to the map to make it more realistic. I am having a hard time doing those kind of features so I went with the example of what it is going to look like that is the one thing that frustrates me the most but every thing went fine.
