Best Experiences in Stockholm
Medieval History Museum
Of all the museums in Stockholm, this is my favorite. The musuem has both Swedish and English stories about the city's rich history and is the home of many medieval relics. It is family friendly and self-guided. You will learn about early royalty, the plague that swept through Europe, and the tools of early civilization. You can also head underneath the castle to see real carriages and ceremonial gowns.
Gröna Lund
Anywhere you stand in the city, you will likely hear the screams emerging from this amusement park. Along with many high thrill rides, Gröna Lund offers a fun house like no other. Try climbing your way up the split escalators, emerge through rooms of illusions and crazy mirrors, to ride down a magic carpet at the end. This kind of fun is truly for everyone.
The Archipelago
Did you know Sweden is home to nearly 270,000 islands? Ferry boats in downtown Stockholm can transport you to a wide variety of them. The best part is Sweden has "Allemansrätt," meaning everyman's right. You have the legal right to roam, gather, and camp anywhere in the countryside, so long as you don't disturb anything. So hike mountains, pick wildberries, and depending on the season, either swim or skate the beautiful lakes.
