Local Coworking
Learning about The Studio coworking space was very engaging. If I ever get back into studio client work I would definitely consider joining a coworking space like The Studio. Their prices are competitive with other coworking spaces like the Hacker Lab but I like this setting much better. Having done my midterm project using a grid and struggling with getting it to work with color extending beyond the grid cells I couldn’t help wondering if Flexbox would have been, well, more flexible.

I did a quick design layout for the midterm with the headline text shooting out in perspective. I originally thought it would just be a graphic or image but I just read a bit more about using CSS to create perspective. Here is a simple intro: https://3dtransforms.desandro.com/perspective

The article Better Web type – A Guide to Combining Fonts, reminded me of the great guidlines for choosing and pairing fonts. I appreciated the walk through in determining a sans-serif headline font and the thought process related to the decision making.
And something new I learned from this article is, when matching two fonts, make sure their x-heights align. I had not consciously realized and understood that tip.
And I liked the process info graphic to evaluate fonts.

Week 2 – New and Old
This week was a great review of html and css. I learned some new tags, <hgroup> and <picture> with <soruce> and <media>. But I also realized I had forgotton some of the basic termonolgy. So I went back and dug up the vocabulary:
