About Me
My Education
I have been taking piano for twelve years. Recently, I have taken two business classes specifically for piano teachers and I meet regularly with other pianist to discuss our teaching. I have learned pieces from Bach, Hadyn, Bethoven, Mozart, and many other famous pianists.
My Teaching Goals
I loved taking piano most of the time, but I understand that it's not always fun and easy to learn. I hope to teach my students both the joys of learning and help them work through their struggles. I like to incorporate pieces of their choice to keep things fun, as well as go through a structured lesson book. My goal is to give my students substantial knowledge in piano so that they can learn and master pieces on their own. I also like to incorporate each student's aspirations into their learning, whether they want to be a professional piano-player or learn just for fun.
About the Lessons
What do we do at the lessons?
My lessons are 30 minutes long and take place once a week. Two lessons per week may be available, but I recommend starting out with one per week. During the lesson time, we go over the pieces they practiced over the week and learn new songs. We may also learn scales and other piano techniques.
Where are they hosted?
I don't have a usable space in my home for a studio, so I drive to each student's house and host the lesson there. My students are required to own a full piano or keyboard with a damper pedal attachment in their home. Preferably, the piano should also be able to perform both loud and soft sounds. See more on this in My Policy below.
When are the lessons?
At times my schedule can be pretty limited, but I do my best to work everyone in. Mornings are usually the easiest time to find a lesson slot. Afternoons may also work, but sometimes it's harder to find a lesson time then due to all of my public schooled students. I will always try to fit lessons into time slots that are desirable for both of our schedules.
Cost
Like all piano teachers, I have a fee for my lessons. I make my lessons as affordable as possible for families looking for a piano teacher for their children.
Out of Pocket
- Cost: $25 per lesson. My fee is lower than most piano teachers with the best possible learning experience I can provide.
- This is for families who pay me directly for lessons. I accept most forms of payment.
- Speak to me directly for more details or questions about payments.
Charter School Funds
- Cost: $30 per lesson.
- This is for families whose children attend a charter school that I vendor at. This cost is higher due to the fees required for me to be there.
- Speak to me directly for more details about charter school payments and info for which schools I'm a vendor at.
Books and Music
- I ask my students to purchase their own music. Depending on level of musicality, the cost of books and music may vary per student.
- Most books are required and must be purchased when a new ones are needed. Individual pieces of music are usually for fun.
- Speak to me directly for more details about costs of books and music.
